NOETZIE BEACH NATURE RESERVE
Noetzie is one of those places that people remember. For many it is because of the “castles”, which have intrigued visitors over the years, and the first question nearly every visitor asks is: “Who built them?” But what really makes Noetzie so special are not the castles, but its natural beauty, much of which is still pristine.
GARDEN OF EDEN
This area of indigenous forest forms part of the larger Knysna Indigenous Forest complex. Forest mammals are usually hidden but tracks of bushbuck, blue duiker, porcupine, caracal, honey badger, porcupine, baboon and vervet monkey may be seen. There are some 40 species of forest birds, including the Knysna loerie. The trail is level and crosses a number of rustic bridges. There is an 800 m “Wheelchair Route” for the physically handicapped. This site was first opened in 1926.
KING EDWARD VII BIG TREE
Knysna`s history is interwoven with its rich indigenous forests. For many years the forests were mercilessly robbed of its rich resources. Extensive destruction of the forests occurred due to indiscriminate harvesting of timber. Fortunately, measures were put into place to preserve and maintain the forests: the indigenous state-owned southern Cape forests were closed from 1939 to 1967 to allow regeneration. Today the forests are managed according to strict conservation principles and harvesting is done in a responsible and ecological sensitive manner.
VALLEY OF THE FERNS
The Valley of Ferns is situated on the road between Knysna and Uniondale, approximately 10 km after the Diepwalle forest station. It offers a pleasant, tranquil picnic site and a short walk through the grove of ferns. Stinkwood trees, Ironwood, Red Alder and the Forest Elder may also be seen here.
7 PASSES ROAD
This 75 km historic road was completed in 1883. Rivers generally flow in deep gorges on their way from the mountains to the sea, therefore there are seven passes along the way, hence the name of the route. Before the Passes Road were constructed, there was no good overland route between George and Knysna. It was the main road between George and Knysna for almost 70 years, until the National Road (N2) was completed in 1952.
PLETTENBERG BAY
Plettenberg Bay is the jewel of The Garden Route. It’s more than a village, less than a town and is tranquil and charming, hospitable and rather special. Plett (as locals call it) is characterized by sweeping uns-poilt golden beaches, a dramatic rocky peninsula and intriguing lagoons.
ROBBERG PENINSULA NATURE RESERVE
The Robberg Peninsula is a nature reserve and national monument that lies about 8km south of Plettenberg Bay. The ecology of the Robberg Peninsula is similar to that of other rocky headlands on this coastline. It presents a fine example of how plants and animals adapt to the interacting influences of land and sea. Robberg offers a choice of three walking trails and the famous Nelson’s Bay Caves.
THE CRAGS
he Crags is such a “happening” place, a destination with a difference! 22 activities packed into a 30km radius! Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre, The Bramon Wineyard, Enrico Restaurant, Nature Valley ..

The Bloem Guest Suites Reviews
We stayed at TheBloem for three nights in February 2017 and were blown away with the service and the venue. The venue was very well decorated, modern, spacious and super clean. We opted to have our breakfast every morning on our room’s large balcony overlooking the gorgeous view of the heads.
What made the experience very special was the service which felt both warm and personal. The staff were always thinking a step ahead, for example, prior to our long drive back to Capetown, we found our car washed! It wasn’t even expected nor did the staff point out that they did it. Everytime we had come back to our suite we found it clean and tidy. Upon arrival we were greeted at the car, with two glasses of chilled wine and an extra bottle in our room. Flowers on the pillows, chocolate on the bedside table… They put to shame some of the fanciest hotels we’ve been to. We’d happily come back to TheBloem. Luc and Sherif. Stayed February 2017, travelled as a couple – Sherif K
Great interior, beautiful view, dedicated friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, either at your room or in on terrace, good location, well connected, all in all very beautiful, we would have loved to remain. – sebastianl549
Beautiful rooms with great design and with rare attention to details. The service is excellent, from welcome drink until luggage handling before leaving. The staff is deeply oriented into customer satisfaction, and make you feel home. Stayed January 2017, travelled as a couple. – renata4622017
