Overlooking the Matjies River Gorge, this congenial hub is where it all happens.
Kick off your shoes, grab a icy drink from the bar and relax. There are three lounge areas to escape to with a book, a pair of binoculars, or just your thoughts. The reading room offers a quiet haven and a leafy vista of the indigenous forest valley and Tsitsikama Mountains. If you’re a bird lover we advise you to head straight for the Ficus lounge where an ancient fruit-laden tree is a favourite with Plett’s prolific bird community.
The pool lounge leads out onto cool blue waters where you may find others lazing about on comfi-recliners.
The Boma is a place for festive occasions and the day’s end where guests can kick back on a pile of comfy cushions, a fire crackling nearby, and their favourite night cap in hand.

Hog Hollow Country Lodge Reviews
“Stayed for two nights. Wish we had stayed longer. Beautiful accommodation with fantastic views of the forest and mountains. Evening meals were excellent. Particularly enjoyed sitting around the large dining table talking to other guests. Loved sitting on on the veranda outside the bedroom bird watching. Very nice swimming pool. Staff very helpful in advising on places to visit in the area. Went on the beach one day and were provided with two beach umbrellas, nice touch. Thoroughly recommended. Room very comfortable.” –Framesnottingham
“This is a little gem . Outside Plettenburg but easy to get to and from. Stunning location , fantastic food and service. Lovely people . Choice of dining on your own or with other guests. Difficult to find fault.” –CanaryHucks
“We loved Hog Hollow. Down the end of a country lane, in the thick of the greenery. Lovely people and great food and plenty to see and do in the area. Went horse-riding on what must be the hardest-working horses in Africa, the steep slopes they had to navigate! The nearby monkey and bird centres were breathtaking, and there is a crafts centre close by with a wide selection of beautiful things. And then there is Plett just down the road – we want to move in. One really cool thing at Hog Hollow is the communal dining table (optional). It’s pot luck who you get and we had one great evening and one less so, with an opinionated guest, but no risk, no fun, right? Very comfortable accommodation. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else near Plett.” –PeterMurphy149
